Mizoram

Mizoram is an unfrequented destination and its capital, Aizawl, is one of the remotest cities in India. If you are looking for a quiet holiday amidst idyllic surroundings, this is the place to visit. Lakes, waterfalls, verdant hills covered with bamboo forests, morning mists and blue skies, whispering pine clusters, quaint villages and houses built on stilts......you are in the "land of highlanders".

The capital, Aizawl set at at 1300 m above sea level, is a quiet and picturesque town, perched on a steep ridge with pleasant weather throughout the year. The Mizo love for music, song and dance is legendary. Don't ever pass up an opportunity to witness a performance of their folk dances, particularly the 'Cheraw' (bamboo dance). These charming people have a close-knit society and are very progressive in their outlook, reflected in the fact that Mizoram boasts of the second-highest literacy rate in India.
